CPJha: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and the Bhartiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis had twitted to tell glorious past of the Honorable former Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde.
These tweets are self explanatory. But they do hide a couple of facts , including that Savarkar wasn’t a ‘ Veer’ and had tendered apology letters to the British rulers to get his release from Cellular Jail in Andman & Nicobar Islands.
He was not like revolutionary Comrade Shiv Varma ( 1904- 1997 ) who despite his torture in the Cellular Jail refused to tender any apology letter to the British rulers for his release from the jail. Revolutionary Comrade Shiv Varma was in fact the last freedom warrier to come out of the Cellular Jail alive after India attained freedom from colonial rule.
The BJP leader has also hidden a fact that following Savarkar’s apology in written, he was granted pension.
Mr Fernandes apparently procured copies of all such archival records while holding the Chief Minister’s post.
We aren’t sure if he has breached oath of secrecy and violated Official Secrets Acts by disclosing informations procured as the Chief Minister. Oath of secrecy puts restrictions on revealing such information during and even after holding the official post.
He may be having in his possession documents showing reason for grant of pension to Savarkar.
Former CM apparently didn’t like to share a fact that Nathuram Godse , convicted and hanged killer of Mahatma Gandhi also stayed in the same house in Nagpur.
The former CM, evidently in a tearing hurry to earn some brownie points to facilitate him to occupy his lost post again said ,” CJI Sharad Bobde ji is an institution in himself. This family played a very important role during freedom struggle. Great freedom fighter like Veer Savarkar ji has stayed at his house in Nagpur. This family can never ever do anything wrong & that is why they honoured Savarkar ji!”
Social media activist , Mukes Aseem wrote a facebook post in Hindi this morning :
We have an old newspaper clipping and wish Mr. Fernandes to tell the world whose house was it from where a revolver was supplied to Godsey to kill Mahatma Gandhi ?
