कांग्रेस सांसद राहुल गांधी ने कहा कि सोमवार को कांग्रेस कार्यसमिति (सीडब्ल्यूसी) की चार घंटे हुए बैठक में ऐतिहासिक फैसला लिया गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस शासित सभी राज्यों में जातीय जनगणना कराई जाएगी। कांग्रेस नेता ने कहा कि सीडब्ल्यूसी की बैठक में जातीय जनगणना पर फैसला लिया है। सभी ने जातीय जनगणना पर अपनी बात रखी। हमारे मुख्यमंत्रियों ने फैसला लिया है की वे अपने राज्यों में जातीय जनगणना को आगे बढ़ाएंगे।

एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में बोलते हुए, गांधी ने कहा कि कांग्रेस कार्य समिति (सीडब्ल्यूसी) ने दिन में चार घंटे तक बैठक की और जाति जनगणना पर चर्चा की। गांधी ने प्रेस वार्ता में कहा, “सीडब्ल्यूसी द्वारा सामूहिक रूप से एक ऐतिहासिक निर्णय लिया गया है। हमारे मुख्यमंत्रियों (छत्तीसगढ़, कर्नाटक, हिमाचल प्रदेश और राजस्थान) ने फैसला किया है कि वे हिमाचल प्रदेश, राजस्थान, कर्नाटक और छत्तीसगढ़ में जाति जनगणना कराएंगे।”

उन्होंने कहा कि यह फैसला देश में गरीब लोगों की मुक्ति के लिए एक बहुत ही “प्रगतिशील” कदम है।
गांधी ने आगे कहा कि यह निर्णय धर्म या जाति के विचार से प्रेरित नहीं है, बल्कि यह भारत के आर्थिक रूप से वंचित लोगों को लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए किया गया है।
उन्होंने कहा, “पूरी कांग्रेस पार्टी ने यह फैसला लिया है। INDIA गठबंधन की अधिकतर पार्टियों ने भी जातिगत जनगणना पर सहमति जताई है। कुछ पार्टियों को दिक्कत हो सकती है लेकिन ठीक है। हम फासीवादी पार्टी नहीं है। लेकिन गठबंधन की अधिकतर पार्टियों ने जातिगत जनगणना पर सहमति जताई है। यह धर्म या जाति के बारे में नहीं है। यह गरीब तबके के बारे में है। यह जातिगत जनगणना गरीब लोगों के लिए है। फिलहाल दो भारत है – एक अडानी का भारत और दूसरा गरीबों का भारत। हमें इस नए एक्सरे की जरूरत है।”

कांग्रेस नेता ने कहा, ”पीएम जाति जनगणना करने में असमर्थ हैं। हमारे 4 में से 3 सीएम ओबीसी वर्ग से हैं। बीजेपी के 10 सीएम में से सिर्फ एक सीएम ओबीसी वर्ग से है। बीजेपी के कितने ओबीसी वर्ग के सीएम हैं? प्रधानमंत्री ओबीसी के लिए नहीं बल्कि उन्हें मुख्य मुद्दों से भटकाने के लिए काम करते हैं।”

गांधी ने आगे कहा, ”पीएम का मकसद ध्यान भटकाना है। आने वाले समय में वह कई तरह के भटकाव लाते रहेंगे। यह (जाति जनगणना) कोई राजनीतिक फैसला नहीं है बल्कि न्याय पर आधारित फैसला है। मैं फिर से कह रहा हूं कि देश में जाति जनगणना कराई जाएगी और कांग्रेस इसे कराएगी।”
इसके अलावा, राहुल गांधी ने राष्ट्रीय जाति जनगणना की भी वकालत की है। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि अधिक जनसंख्या के साथ अधिक अधिकार भी होने चाहिए।
मालूम हो कि भाजपा ने विपक्षी दलों पर जाति के आधार पर हिंदुओं के बीच विभाजन पैदा करने का प्रयास करने का आरोप लगाया है जबकि विपक्षी दल इसे भाजपा के पारंपरिक समर्थन आधार को चुनौती देने के अवसर के रूप में देखते हैं जो जाति-आधारित राजनीति पर निर्भर करता है।
