कांग्रेस वर्किंग कमेटी ने इजरायली फोर्सेज और हमास आतंकवादी समूह के बीच “तत्काल संघर्ष विराम” का आह्वान किया और फिलिस्तीनी लोगों की जमीन, स्वशासन और आत्म-सम्मान के साथ जीवन के अधिकारों का समर्थन करते हुए प्रस्ताव पारित किया। कांग्रेस पार्टी की ओर से जारी एक बयान में कहा गया कि CWC तत्काल संघर्ष विराम का आह्वान करती है और वर्तमान संघर्ष को जन्म देने वाले अनिवार्य मुद्दों सहित सभी लंबित मुद्दों पर बातचीत शुरू करने का आह्वान करती है।
कांग्रेस पार्टी ने कहा, “कांग्रेस वर्किंग कमेटी मिडिल ईस्ट में छिड़े युद्ध और हज़ार से अधिक लोगों के मारे जाने पर गहरा दुःख और पीड़ा व्यक्त करती है। CWC फिलिस्तीनी लोगों के ज़मीन, स्वशासन और आत्म-सम्मान एवं गरिमा के साथ जीवन के अधिकारों के लिए अपने दीर्घकालिक समर्थन को दोहराती है। CWC तुरंत युद्धविराम और वर्तमान संघर्ष को जन्म देने वाले अपरिहार्य मुद्दों सहित सभी लंबित मुद्दों पर बातचीत शुरू करने का आह्वान करती है।”
इससे एक दिन पहले पार्टी ने कहा था कि वह “इजरायल के लोगों पर क्रूर हमलों की निंदा करती है”। कांग्रेस महासचिव जयराम रमेश ने कहा था कि उनकी पार्टी का हमेशा मानना रहा है कि इजरायलियों की राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा चिंताओं को सुनिश्चित करते हुए फिलिस्तीन के लोगों की वैध आकांक्षाओं को बातचीत के माध्यम से पूरा किया जाना चाहिए।
बता दें कि इजराइल और हमास आतंकवादी समूह के बीच संघर्ष मंगलवार को तीसरे दिन में प्रवेश कर गया और इसमें दोनों पक्षों के 1400 से अधिक लोगों की जान चली गई है। हमास के उग्रवादियों द्वारा गाजा से इजराइल पर रॉकेट दागे जाने के बाद युद्ध शुरू हो गया था। शनिवार की सुबह हमास ने इज़राइल में 5,000 रॉकेट दागे, जिसके बाद इज़राइल ने आतंकवादी समूह पर युद्ध की घोषणा की। तीन दिवसीय संघर्ष में पहले ही दोनों पक्षों के हजारों लोगों की जान जा चुकी है, जबकि इज़राइल में 44 सैनिकों सहित 700 से अधिक लोग मारे गए हैं। इजराइल ने शनिवार को गाजा पट्टी में हमास के ठिकानों को खत्म करने के लिए जवाबी कार्रवाई शुरू की थी।
