The land of sages, monks, ascetics, litterateurs and artists used to be known for ‘destruction’, today Azamgarh has regained glory for ‘development’, said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday.
While addressing the public in Azamgarh, Yogi Adityanath flayed previous governments saying, “Earlier the youth hailing from Azamgarh was denied even a place to live in other cities and states. The place was known for hooliganism and destruction.”
On the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 117 development projects worth Rs 4585 crores.
In his address, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our country has presented itself as a new India. It has set new benchmarks of development, security and prosperity. Uttar Pradesh is also working as envisioned by Prime Minister and the Home Minister. The development of Azamgarh was stalled in the name of caste and religion. Earlier, Azamgarh had a crisis of identity. But you all have seen that today this district has become very close to the capital Lucknow by joining the Purvanchal Expressway.
He further said that during his last visit, the Home Minister had laid the foundation stone of the university named after Maharaj Suheldev. Not only this, to honor the heritage of Azamgarh, the work of laying the foundation stone of the college is going to be done in the name of Hariharpur Sangeet Gharana.
The Chief Minister said that Azamgarh was earlier known for bomb blasts and destructive activities. Today its name is being taken for development. “Inauguration of such massive projects worth crores bears testimony to the development-oriented vision of the state government. Previously such events were mere a dream for Azamgarh,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the population of India is 140 crores. For the last 3 years, our government is giving free ration to 80 crore people. On the other hand, the population of Pakistan is 22 crores, which is facing severe food scarcity. Good leadership takes the responsibility of raising the standard of living of its citizens, their prosperity and their security, while standing with them in their happiness and sorrow. But selfish, corrupt and discriminatory leaders create a situation like Pakistan.
“Some also wanted India to become like Pakistan. However, after 2014, India is touching new heights. One could have thought that Article 370 would be removed from Kashmir. Today it is not a dream but has become a reality. Today, be it Jammu and Kashmir or the North-Eastern states, the work is going on to eliminate division from everywhere,” added Yogi.
Yogi asserted that similar to the years 2014, 2017, 2019, in 2024 also Uttar Pradesh will work with full commitment to make the lotus bloom under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
