New Delhi: The union urban development minister Hardeep Singh Puri while laying the foundation stone of MCD’S largest school in Goshala park, Prem Nagar here today said the way Centre’s Modi government has been carrying out development activities, it’s list is too long. March 2020, or during the first lock down, arranging three times free food for over 90 crore people and over 106 crore vaccinations so far, in itself is quite remarkable, he said.
Shri Puri, thanking State BJP President Adesh Gupta and corporations officials for this 34 room school being built at a cost of Rs 8 crore, said it’s because of their efforts that after removing heaps of garbage a big school and a play ground are coming up here. The minister said since last 40 years the problem of people living in unauthorised colonies finally getting ownership rights has been been resolved by Modi government. He said under PM awaas yojna, 1.13 crore houses have been sanctioned in urban areas of Delhi. Besides, the Modi Government is committed to ensuring jehan jhuggie, wahin makan, he reiterated.
Adesh Gupta said it is good for people of Prem Nagar and nearby areas that corporation’s largest school is coming up here. Children living in Prem Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Baljeet Nagar, Punjabi basti besides other areas will greatly benefit from this. He said development in this area will continue and added the 2 acre land is being finally being put to good use as earlier it used to be dumping ground for garbage and was in the hands of Bangladeshi kabariwallahs. It has finally been freed from them, he added.
Gupta said there was a small school in Prem Nagar in 1500 sq mts and classes used to be conducted in two shifts. But now this problem will be resolved. He also referred to another problem of locality saying there is a small 100 mts road on DMS road which people find difficult to walk through. If this problem is taken care of,Prem Nagar people will always be thankful for that. The minister then promised this road will be made even before school comes up. the school building is targeted to be ready in 18 months but we are trying to complete it in 12 months. He thanked corporation’s engineers and officials for this. Present at the occasion were vice presidents of the party Ashok Goel Devrah and Rajan Tiwari, North corporation mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, south Delhi mayor Mukesh Suryan, leader of the house, Chail Bihari, and Inderjit Sehrawat besides others.
