A group of four Indian citizens, scientists and activists, on July 27, 2021, wrote an open letter to their elected representatives and journalists, seeking that they question the narrative around the need for mass vaccination. Earlier, a group of 20 doctors called ‘Indian Doctors for Truth’ had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a halt on the vaccination drive and explaining that immunity through previous infection was longer lasting and more robust than what was gained from the vaccine. “The doctors point out that the first principle of medicine is do not harm … they point out that the vaccine is doing more harm than good,” the letter states.
Aruna Rodrigues, who has petitioned the Supreme Court seeking a moratorium on Genetically Modified Organisms, researcher Vinay Baindur, Public Policy Analyst Dr Narasimha Reddy Dhonti and Jagannath Chatterjee, public health activist who has himself suffered the adverse effects of MMR vaccination as a child, write, “Four recent studies indicate that almost 99.9% of the population have immune system memory from previous coronavirus infections… whether the actual coronavirus infection or the vaccine, the immune system gets activated.” They explain that chances of reinfection in such people are next to non-existent.
“To reiterate, rapid and efficient memory-type immune responses occur reliably in virtually all unvaccinated individuals who are exposed to SARS-Cov-2. But vaccines in fact can be more harmful in an already immune population. The effectiveness of further boosting the immune response is highly doubtful,” the letter explains, warning that vaccination may enhance disease through antibody dependent enhancement.
The letter writers point out that the government’s operative guidelines make a frank admission of the “limited safety data” on these vaccines, urging that all forms of coercion for vaccination be stopped; the vaccine must not be mandatory for people to return to work or for students to attend examinations. All trials on children too must be stopped, given there is no evidence that children are at particular risk from the virus. It is also noted that there is a surge in cases and deaths since the rollout of the vaccine.
Reports of adverse events following vaccination have been reported from across the world – the European Database of Adverse Drug Reactions (EUDRA) report of July 17, 2021 showed that 18,928 people had died following vaccination. Death rate in India too had increased, although we have no reliable data.
The group of letter writers underlined two concerns – the first around safety of vaccines and suppression of repurposed drugs that were showing efficacy in treatment of Covid-19; the second concern was the lack of surveillance of adverse reactions to the vaccine and the emerging coercion to vaccinate which was in violation of Article 21 of the Constitution.
“While governments around the world and the WHO are working on a war footing to vaccinate everyone, there is a growing body of evidence emerging from the medical and scientific community about the lack of efficacy and safety of these vaccines,” the letter states.
The letter explains that the vaccines were granted emergency use approval, without the necessary data for safety. The vaccines can only get regular approval once testing/evaluation and peer review process is completed. That process would take a few years and last up to about 2023, the letter states. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies are indemnified against any harms their products might cause, which is unjustified.
Even though we are being told that the vaccines are safe, eminent retired doctors from other parts of the world have been questioning these claims. Some of the people questioning the safety of the SARS-Cov-2 vaccines are doctors and scientists who have spent their whole professional career researching and developing vaccines, the letter states, citing vaccine expert Geert Vanden Bossche and Nobel laureate Luc Montaignier. Robert Malone, the inventor the mRNA technology, has also warned that vaccination could cause “an out of control pandemic”.
The letter cites a study conducted in Japan, of post vaccination total lipid concentration, which found the lipid nanoparticles in the whole blood four hours after vaccination, and later concentrating in the ovaries, bone marrow and lymph nodes. Dr Tess Lawrie, who has been producing documents on the basis of which public health decisions are made by the WHO, also proposed that vaccination be halted, after a study of the data in the UK. She too, along with US-based Dr Pierre Kory, had recommended the use of Ivermectin, which showed high levels of efficacy in treatment of Covid-19, especially when used early in the infection.
The letter is based on expert opinions on vaccines. Not much is known about Covaxin, although the letter takes note of its use of aluminum as adjuvant, which carries a risk of auto-immunity and long term brain inflammation. “We must await more details about Covaxin,” the letter states.
The letter questions why the mainstream media narrative is about equitable access to vaccination, questions of safety and efficacy are not given any space, and people seldom hear of these from elected representatives or the media.
The letter provides an elaborate list of references and links to interviews and research papers.
