The Delhi BJP has warned the Kejriwal government if the severe water crisis problem in the capital is not resolved within next 48 hours, the party will not only intensify its agitation but also cut off the water connection of Delhi Jal Board chairman, Satyendra Jain as the party cannot continue to see Delhiites being deprived of such a basic need when they are already facing intense heat and humid weather.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, the city party President Shri Adesh Gupta, along with LOP in state assembly Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, held the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal personally responsible for this problem. The AAP came to power in Delhi promising to eliminate tanker mafia active in the then Congress government but now the same mafia is ruling the roost under the Kejriwal government, he charged. Present on the dais with them were party vice president Jaiveer Singh Rana, state media head Naveen Kumar Jindal and state spokesperson Aditya Jha.
Shri Gupta said as people are longing for every drop of water, the Kejriwal government and his ministers would realize this only when a minister’s water supply is cut off as to how it feels to be without water. The party president charged that colonies in Delhi are not being supplied water so that tanker mafia can make merry. The fact is the Kejriwal government is hand in glove with the tanker mafia who are filling up the AAP’s coffers by returning the favour, he charged.
Gupta due to corrupt and wrong policies of the Kejriwal government, the jal board running at a profit of Rs 800 crore at one time is now in the red and in fact, on the verge of bankruptcy. He said in the past years state government gave Rs 57000 crore to the board but there is no account of Rs 26000 crore. He said there is nothing wrong with being ambitious as everyone has right to be so in politics but chief minister should not forget he has a constitutional obligation to fulfill towards the people of Delhi who have helped him reach this post.
The BJP president lamented that lakhs of people in over 100 localities are not getting water supply and many of them are forced to buy water. In such a situation the BJP cannot remain a silent spectator and its workers will agitate in every nook and corner of the city to protest against Kejriwal government, he warned.
The LOP in state assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said in past seven years none of the promises announced on water production and distribution have been fulfilled. He said there is no word on cleaning of sewer and giving 140 MGD water to UP and in return taking Ganga water from Muradnagar canal. Even there is no word about the plant to be set up in Haiderpur and Wazirabad for cleaning of sewer.
Bidhuri charged the plan to get water from Himachal seems to be on paper only and needs to be located and at the same time, there is no news about underground reservoirs near the Yamuna and making ponds in rural areas for accumulating water and using it. He said when the Kejriwal government came to power here, 950 MGD water was being produced and not a single unit has been added to that since then whereas demand is now 1250 MGD. He charged that even quality of water supplied is so bad that it causing diseases like cancer, gastroenteritis or lever connected diseases.
