Today on the 5th of February 2022 saraswati pooja is being celebrated. People tend to wear yellow clothes and prepare dishes of yellow color. Today Ma saraswati is worshipped who is the goddess of knowledge and intellect. The day of saraswati pooja is also referred to as Basant Panchami. People in the northern India traditionally used to fly kites and have poojas at home. Such culture has also been portrayed in many songs of Bollywood for example the “ ruth aa gayi re” from the movie Earth.
The people from Bengal tend to celebrate Saraswati pooja by having a community pooja and forming a pandal. People from the community visit the pandal and worship the goddess. People mostly prepare sweet yellow rice, khichdi and ladoo as the parshad of the pooja.
The festival is also known for the setting in for the spring season. It is said that from the day of saraswati pooja the days start getting warmer and the winters get over. The festival is celebrated across India on pancham titthi in the month of Magha according to the Hindu calendar.
Many people who have young kids and who want to start the education of their kids select this day to start their education as it is considered very auspicious and pious for the children. People tend to wish for more knowledge and intellect from the goddess Saraswati.
