लोकसभा सुरक्षा उल्लंघन की घटना पर हंगामे के बीच सदन के सभापति के साथ झड़प के बाद तृणमूल कांग्रेस के सांसद डेरेक ओ ब्रायन को “अपमानजनक कदाचार” के लिए राज्यसभा से निलंबित कर दिया गया। गुरुवार को राज्यसभा की कार्यवाही शुरू होने के एक घंटे बाद, विपक्षी सांसद संसद सुरक्षा उल्लंघन पर चर्चा की मांग करते हुए सदन के वेल में आ गए। सुरक्षा उल्लंघन पर चर्चा के लिए विपक्षी सांसदों ने दिन भर के लिए कामकाज स्थगित करने की मांग करते हुए 28 नोटिस दिए।
सभापति जगदीप धनखड़ ने नोटिस को अस्वीकार कर दिया और विपक्षी सांसद सदन के वेल में चले गए। उन्होंने नारेबाजी की और केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह से जवाब मांगा। धनखड़ ने सांसदों के “अनियंत्रित व्यवहार” की निंदा करते हुए कहा कि यह नियमों का उल्लंघन है।

इससे धनखड़ नाराज हो गए और उन्होंने ओ ब्रायन का नाम लेते हुए कहा कि उन्हें सदन छोड़ देना चाहिए। सभापति द्वारा नामित व्यक्ति को उस दिन की कार्यवाही से हटना पड़ता है।
धनखड़ ने डेरेक ओ ब्रायन के आचरण को सभापति की ”अवज्ञा” और ”गंभीर कदाचार” बताया। इसके बाद, उच्च सदन ने ओ’ब्रायन को शेष सत्र के लिए निलंबित करने का प्रस्ताव अपनाया।
मालूम हो कि बुधवार को 2001 के संसद आतंकवादी हमले की बरसी पर दो व्यक्ति शून्यकाल के दौरान सार्वजनिक गैलरी से लोकसभा कक्ष में कूद गए, कनस्तरों से पीली गैस छोड़ी और कुछ सांसदों द्वारा काबू किए जाने से पहले नारे लगाए।
इस बीच दिल्ली पुलिस स्पेशल सेल ने यूएपीए धारा के तहत मामला दर्ज किया है। दिल्ली पुलिस ने आईपीसी की धारा 120-बी (आपराधिक साजिश), 452 (अतिक्रमण), धारा 153 (दंगा भड़काने के इरादे से उकसाना), 186 (लोक सेवक के काम में बाधा पहुंचाना), 353 (हमला या आपराधिक बल) और यूएपीए की 16 और 18 धारा के तहत पार्लियामेंट स्ट्रीट थाने में मामला दर्ज किया है। सुरक्षा उल्लंघन के बाद, पुलिस ने अब तक कुल पांच आरोपियों को हिरासत में लिया है, जबकि छठा संदिग्ध फरार है। गृह मंत्रालय ने घटना की उच्च स्तरीय जांच शुरू कर दी है और जांच का नेतृत्व करने के लिए केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के प्रमुख को नियुक्त किया है।
